Recently we hung out at Fitness That Fits You (FTFY) at a pop up Health Care Event. Lots of top notch people and practitioners freely educating and serving the public.
Our part to play was talking a bit about Pain and Dry Needling. We followed up with some dry needling demos and conversations surrounding obstacles in peoples lives.
Posted below is the video of the lecture as well as Austin, the owner of FTFY, having his lat dry needled.
A few of the major points:
1- Having pain does not necessarily mean that you are injured. Pain is a signal from your body requesting change.
2- Your brain uses an alarm system to alert you of potential threats. This can include pain, muscle tightness, muscle weakness, or numbness….to name just a few! Think of this like a parking brake pulled to help keep you safe.
3- Through ‘novel’ input, you can ‘reset’ your brains perception of the threat temporarily releasing that parking brake.
4 – There are many different types of inputs to help with a system ‘reset’, dry needling is one of them.
5 – Alongside a perception reset, dry needling can help spark a healing response by promoting robust fluid exchange within localized tissue.
Sound cool? Check out the video above!
Pain is a part of the human condition. We all have experienced pain. We all will experience pain in the future. Many of us are experiencing pain right now…
Here at Linchpin Performance we like to dig deep to find the true source of your pain. From there, we work together to address the issues that are needed to meet your goals. We teach you to move better and equip you to stay at the top of your game for life.
